THERE IS A CRACK IN EVERYTHING. THAT’S HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN.

Following the topic of Golden Shadow by Carl Jung, and my own journey of attempting to become a photographer, this series is a collection of small moments and details in the world around me that somehow brought me comfort in a world of struggle. Perhaps, ignited an inner sparkle.

The Japanese have the expression ‘mono no aware’ to represent the contemplation (and appreciation) of the impermanence of everything. In Latin, from where my language comes from, ‘lacrimae rerum’ signifies the tears of things, the realization and acceptance of what is. Maybe this is part of the journey of us all, integrating in ourselves the broken pieces and looking for what shines from within.

The creation process involves as well an inspiration from the Japanese art of ‘kintsugi’, where someone fixes broken ceramics with gold glue, as a strategy to add value to a broken object. We all thrive better with the acceptance of our pasts, an embracing of the Nietzschian motto of Amor Fati: loving our fate because we were the ones creating it, the good and the bad being equally important bones that make who we are.
